HEALTHY SOIL. LESS WATER. BETTER FOR OUR PLANET.
WE’RE ENSURING OUR CARBON EMISSIONS HAVE NO NET IMPACT ON THE PLANET BY 2040.
We’ve decided to play an active role in limiting the global temperature rise to 1.5°c. To achieve this, we’re making several changes to how our products are made, how we move them, and where we sell them.
HEALTHY SOIL. LESS WATER. BETTER FOR OUR PLANET.
How our products are made accounts for half of our total carbon footprint as a brand
By 2025, 65% of our garments will be converted to organic, low impact, or recycled materials. And half of all the garments we produce will be made in factories using renewable electricity. But that's not all – In AW23 100% of our padded jackets contained 100% recycled padding. We have grown our use of recycled jacket linings to 81% of the padded range.
How we move our products around is a big part of our footprint too
And we’re continuing to take steps to reduce these emissions further. We use barges instead of lorries to transport over 40% of our garments from port to warehouse in Belgium – barges emit 50% less carbon than lorries. We are using less airfreight to move our products from our factories to warehouses. This year we achieved our 1% cap in inbound air freight and will continue to maintain this and improve supplier engagement and emissions transparency. This means maintaining the movement of 99% of our inbound garments via lower carbon routes, including sea freight.
Where we sell our clothes is the last piece of the puzzle
Our owned stores and offices have used renewable electricity since 2017, and we’re working with franchise store partners to help them make the switch too. This accounts for a small percentage of our overall footprint in 2021/2 – 1.4% – but every bit counts.
