You will only see our 'low impact materials' claim where a lower impact material makes up over 50% of a garment's content or 100% of a jacket's padding. Over the last year, 47% of the garments we designed and produced contained organic, lower impact or recycled materials.
We are on track to meet our 65% target by 2025 and 100% of all cotton by 2030. We use the logos on this page on our our swing tags as an easy reference point for customers to identify a specific 'low impact materials' material. We use recycled materials from a number of sources to make our garments, giving discarded materials a new purpose, saving waste, and reducing the amount of carbon emitted in this garment’s production compared to conventional alternatives. Recycled cotton is made using salvaged fabric offcuts or pre-loved clothes. Creating recycled cotton gives new life to material which would have otherwise been wasted, saving up to 95% in water. It also has a 25% lower carbon footprint than conventional cotton.
Recycled polyester is typically made from post-consumer waste, such as plastic bottles – in AW21 and SS22, up to 48 million recycled bottles were diverted to Superdry jackets and swimwear. Recycled polyester saves up to 30% in water and has a 26% lower carbon footprint compared to virgin polyester.
Recycled nylon is made using industrial fishing nets and pre-consumer fabric scraps. Recycled nylon saves up to 9% in water and has a 54% lower carbon footprint compared to virgin nylon.
LENZING™ ECOVERO™ VISCOSE. Made using LENZING™ ECOVERO™ fibres, derived from certified and controlled wood sources and produced with significantly lower energy and water use than generic viscose.
